Our team of engineers has a deep background
in solar and HVAC engineering. We have designed, developed
and brought to market dozens of products over the years,
most of our work
has been as a developer of products
for others to sell under their name, but we do produce
and market certain products under the HotSpot brand.
We have created literally dozens of solar thermal,
PV and air conditioning solutions, filed patents, manufactured
products, and we have a number of industry-first product
claims under our belts. Since 2010, in addition to our solar and HVAC products,
we have been producing heat recovery equipment. Below
is the reason why.
The worlds most promising
untapped energy source doesn't consume fossil fuels
and doesn't cause oil spills or air pollution, it doesn't
depend on wind or sunlight, it doesn't require us to
grow or consume plant matter for ethanol, has no radioactivity
or other dangers, needs little if any further research
and development, is available everywhere without transportation
or storage requirements and can be deployed immediately
at a very low cost with payback periods of less than
two years.
This energy source is literally everywhere, it’s the heat that we throw away into the atmosphere when we operate an air conditioner or a refrigeration/freezer compressor. Without attempting a discussion of thermodynamics or refrigeration theory, the short story is that when we provide cooling BTUs inside, an equal or greater amount of heating BTUs must be rejected to the outside. Even though it seems crazy, we throw away heat energy outdoors and then turn around and pay the gas or electric company for energy to heat our water.
Waste heat recovery is a billion dollar industry that, unfortunately for smaller energy users, mainly addresses only industrial and large commercial thermal energy recovery applications. For decades, large industrial and manufacturing enterprises have used waste heat recovery to dramatically cut their energy costs, but because waste heat recovery solutions have traditionally been complex engineering projects, small scale solutions have not been widely offered. As a result, for the hundreds of thousands of smaller energy users who could potentially achieve meaningful energy savings from small-scale waste heat recovery, few solutions have been available and consumer awareness is low.
HotSpot is changing that.
HotSpot Energy was created by solar industry veterans
who discovered that, due to the high cost of
solar water heating systems, it was often a much better
deal for the customer to recover and recycle energy,
than to invest in creating new energy using solar. For pool heating, hot water heating, or even to power an absorption chiller, heat recovery has many applications.
HotSpot provides cost-effective and
practical heat reclaim products that pay for themselves
quickly and provide substantial, consistent and permanent
energy savings and energy cost reductions.
HotSpot currently produces a range
of water heating and pool heating equipment that uses
free, recovered heat as the energy source. HotSpot
also produces solar powered air conditioners and heat
pumps including DC air conditioners for solar/telecom
use, and a special ACDC hybrid solar air conditioner
for on-grid heating and cooling.
